Family Activities
With an assortment of activities for the whole family, Brenne and the surrounding area offer a broad range of great
experiences for every taste. By no means an exhaustive list, these include hiking, cycling, horse riding, rock climbing,
caving, golf, angling, tennis, mountain biking, sailing, archery, paintball, moto-cross, quad biking and more.
To compliment your itinerary, you may also want to consider visiting some of the
France’s officially ‘prettiest’ villages with their local markets, medieval architecture, fairytale chateaux and vineyards.
With Futuroscopes (a multimedia, audio-visual theme park attraction) only 40 minutes drive away, zoos, etc; you’re
literally spoilt for choice.
Hiking/running

There are 107 marked Short Hikes, cross country, within the Brenne
that can befollowed using a plastic covered map and markers on
trees. Use our marked runs with the help of our Garmin device free
of charge. (click to see garmin maps)
On a bike

In the Brenne most roads are almost flat and there is relatively little
traffic. Ideal for a family bike ride. There is a choice of eleven marked
circuits to follow in the Brenne National Park. We have marked 100's
of km of good routes also for you to choose from. Use our Garmin
devices to find your way. You can also hire bikes and kiddy trailers
from us.
Mountain biking

The Creuse and Anglin valleys have a varied enough terrain to allow
for challenging mountain bike rides. There are plenty of tracks for
Mountain bikers from the more callenging to easy. Use our Garmin
devices to map your ride.
Horse riding
There are quite a few centres that organize lessons,
courses
and treks or horse-drawn tours in Brenne for groups or individuals.
We have singled out the companies we think are the best.
Horse trekking can be done on all of the marked trails for hikers
remembering to be courteous to
other users.
Rock climbing
The Anglin valley is lined with limestone cliffs,
very suitable for
rock-climbing. There are a number of sites on our doorstep.
Climbing in France can be fun with bolted climbs giving you
more freedom. Activities in the company of an expert are
organised for groups or individuals.
Caving
The area around Le Blanc has many caves. Caving is possible
throughout the year but only in the company of a guide (in order
not to disturb bats that use the caves).
Caving can be organised with a local expert.
Golf

Not far from us, St Cyr hosts an 18-hole course. Within the Brenne
there is a mini-golf, a practice course and a swin-golf
(a sort of simplified golf, played using a soft ball and a special
club with a three-sided head, the choice of surface depending
on the shot to be played). Lots of fun.
Angling

Thanks to the abundance of lakes and rivers there are various types
of fishing activity, river fishing: the rivers in the park are well stocked.
Fishing is possible on the Creuse, Anglin and Claise as well as
some of their tributaries. Classic lake fishing: most of the lakes
in Brenne are private and angling isn't permitted. However, a few are
open to the public for No-kill fishing for Carp or Wels Catfish.
Kayaking/canoeing

There is great canoeing on the Creuse and Anglin rivers, and to
a lesser degree the Claise. Anyone is allowed to use the river,
sometimes it is necessary to carry the canoe around obstacles
or dams. It's possible to hire a canoe, and to go down the Creuse
or Anglin alone, discover the rivers by means of a guide or participate
in an organized excursion.
Bellebouche lake
Bellebouche is one of the most picturesque lakes of the Brenne.
There is an assortment of activities of for the whole family,
supervised swimming in summer, hire of fun-canoes, sail boards
and pedal-boats, mini-golf, angling (normal and carp), childrens
play areas, picnic sites, walks, exercise circuits and beach-side
restaurant. We visit this lake to set up mini tri's with our beginners,
we swim in the lake, bike a loop on the road and then run the trail
around the lake.(6.8km)
Its a great day out for everyone.
